Tropaeum Traiani — Street View

See the reconstructed Tropaeum Traiani, its Roman battlefield context, original reliefs in the museum and current visiting hours in Adamclisi.

Near the village of Adamclisi in southeastern Romania, Tropaeum Traiani is best understood as a group of places rather than a single monument. The archaeological complex includes the tall triumphal monument on the surrounding plateau, the remains of a Roman town and a museum in the village. They are separated across the landscape, so a visit that sees only the monument misses the urban setting and the objects that explain how the memorial was made.

The monument stands northeast of Adamclisi, about 1.5 kilometres from the village along a side road, according to the National Museum of History and Archaeology in Constanța (MINAC). The fortress lies southwest of the monument, while the museum is at 15 Muzeului Street in the centre of Adamclisi. MINAC gives the road distance from Constanța to Adamclisi as approximately 63 kilometres via the DN3.
