The Teatro-Tempio romano di Monte San Nicola, also known as: Teatro Tempio di Pietravairano, is located in Pietravairano, Italy. It is a rare example of a Roman theater-temple complex that was built during the Republican era (II-I century BC). The complex consists of a rectangular temple and a theater modeled after Greek theaters. The semicircular cavea was carved out of the natural slope of the hill, and the stage was located along the edge of the terrace, reinforced by four turrets.
The ancient complex is made up of a temple and a theater on two terraces at different heights. The temple is on the upper terrace and has three very similar rooms (cellae) where statues of the deities worshiped in this place were probably located. The theater is on the lower terrace and has a semicircular cavea, which was carved out of the natural slope of the hill, and a stage (the palco) located along the edge of the terrace, reinforced by four turrets.
