Furong Ancient Town

Furong, known in Chinese as 芙蓉镇 (Furong Zhen), is a picturesque historical town located in Yongshun County, Hunan Province, China. Originally named Wangcun, the town acquired its current name, Furong, following the popularity of the Chinese film "Furong Zhen." Since its founding, Furong has been an important commercial port due to its strategic location alongside the You River. In 910 AD, Furong was chosen as a temporary capital by Tujia ethnic leaders who built palaces to escape the summer heat.

During the Qing dynasty, specifically in 1728, Furong came under administrative control of Yongshun County, adopting the administrative structure it maintains today.

Dreamlike Landscapes Among Waterfalls

One of Furong’s most distinctive features is its impressive waterfall that flows through the town, creating a unique scene described as "the ancient town suspended above the waterfall."
