About Estadio Monterrey
Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe, part of Greater Monterrey, will host four matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including a Round of 32 tie. During the tournament it is known as Estadio Monterrey.
The stadium in briefOpened on 2 August 2015 at a cost of around US$200 million and designed by Populous, the stadium is nicknamed 'El Gigante de Acero' (The Steel Giant) for its metallic exterior. One of its defining features is the dramatic backdrop of the Cerro de la Silla mountain visible beyond one end. Capacity is about 53,500. It is the home of Liga MX side C.F. Monterrey (Rayados).
HistoryBuilt by owner FEMSA to replace the old Estadio Tecnologico, the BBVA has hosted CONCACAF Champions League finals and is widely regarded as one of the finest stadiums in the Americas, blending modern design with a spectacular natural setting.
