The community and the site museum stand in a region where political and cultural life continued through several periods. The museum stands in the community of Tres Zapotes, within the municipality of Santiago Tuxtla. INAH gives its address as Estela Núñez s/n, postal code 95839, and directs drivers from Santiago Tuxtla toward Isla, turning toward Dos Caminos before reaching the community. The museum is not a substitute for walking among excavated ruins; it provides a carefully oriented model and objects through which visitors can understand a landscape they cannot presently enter.
