Tanghou Beach, also called Tanghoudao Beach, stretches along the western side of Beigan in Taiwan’s Matsu Islands. Its broad golden sand and open bay create a softer counterpoint to Beigan’s granite villages and military tunnels. Aircraft approaching the nearby airport add an unusual element to the landscape, while the sea and offshore islands remain the dominant view.
The Matsu National Scenic Area places the beach at Hou’ao Village and lists it as open all day. That means there is no ticket gate, not that conditions are always suitable for swimming. Wind, waves, fog and seasonal weather can change quickly in the Taiwan Strait, and visitors should follow any warning signs or local instructions.
