Dziekanowice Farmstead — Street View

The Dziekanowice farmstead anchors Poland’s vast Wielkopolska Ethnographic Park, where relocated buildings recreate regional rural life.

The historic farmstead at Dziekanowice forms part of the Wielkopolska Ethnographic Park, an open-air branch of the Museum of the First Piasts at Lednica. Rather than presenting rural history behind glass alone, the park brings together houses, barns, workshops, a church, windmills and estate buildings relocated or reconstructed to show how Greater Poland’s villages were organized.

The folwark, or landed-estate farm, adds a crucial perspective. Rural life was not limited to independent cottages: large farms coordinated labour, storage, livestock and production within wider economic and social relationships. Reading the estate buildings alongside peasant homesteads helps visitors see differences in scale, resources and authority across the historical countryside.
