The project’s scale changes how a visit should be planned: travellers are moving between separate communities and venues, not walking through one excavated city. That broader frame is also more honest about what survives and what remains a subject of research.
The ancient port of Muziris appears in historical discussions of Kerala’s maritime connections, but the exact location and extent of the port are not settled simply by attaching the name to every nearby heritage site. The project’s own archaeology summary presents Pattanam as a possible location for ancient Muziris or Muchiripattanam. It is a significant hypothesis, not a final identification. Keeping that distinction visible makes the visit more interesting: the landscape is part of an active historical investigation rather than a neatly solved story.
