Muziris Heritage is not one monument with a single entrance. It is a regional network of museums, historic buildings, archaeological places, religious sites and waterways stretching through the North Paravur–Kodungallur area of Kerala. The Government of Kerala’s Muziris Heritage Project connects these places to tell a much larger story about Indian Ocean commerce and the communities shaped by it.
Ancient texts and archaeological research associate the region with Muziris, a port active in exchange between the Malabar Coast, the Red Sea and the Mediterranean world. Pepper and other goods moved outward; coins, ceramics and ideas arrived. The exact position and physical form of the ancient harbour remain matters of research, so the responsible visitor should avoid treating every heritage building as a surviving structure from the classical port.
