ABOUT AT and T Stadium

AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be the busiest venue of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosting nine matches, more than any other stadium, culminating in a semifinal on 14 July. During the tournament it is officially called Dallas Stadium.

The stadium in brief

Opened in 2009 at a cost of about US$1.15 billion and designed by the HKS architecture firm, AT&T Stadium is the home of the Dallas Cowboys. Its vast retractable roof and one of the world's largest video boards have made it an icon of modern stadium design. Football capacity sits near 80,000 but can expand beyond 100,000; for the World Cup the configured capacity is roughly 94,000, the highest of the tournament. The retractable roof allows matches to be shielded from the fierce Texas summer heat.

History

Nicknamed 'Jerry World' after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the venue has staged Super Bowl XLV, the College Football Playoff Championship, NBA All-Star Games and global concerts. It was long considered a candidate to host the World Cup Final, which ultimately went to New York/New Jersey, but Dallas still secured a semifinal.
