About SeaWorld Orlando

A Florida park with a changing identity

SeaWorld Orlando opened on December 15, 1973, as Central Florida was becoming a major visitor destination. The park’s official history links its early years to marine-animal presentations and rescue work; today, the experience combines animal habitats and educational encounters with large rides, seasonal celebrations and live presentations. That mix is why a visit can feel different from a conventional amusement park, but it also means the day needs a little planning. The park’s shows, attractions and operating hours change by date, and not every experience runs continuously.

The name can also cause confusion with nearby sister attractions. SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Orlando and Discovery Cove are separate venues, even though they are promoted together as a regional resort complex. A SeaWorld admission ticket does not automatically include entry to every neighboring park, a special event or a separately priced animal experience. Read the ticket terms for the exact date and product you are buying. Treat promotional prices as offers with conditions, not as a guaranteed walk-up price at the gate.

Coasters, habitats and the day’s schedule

SeaWorld’s current ride directory lists eight roller coasters, from high-thrill rides to family options. Mako is promoted for speed and height; Manta turns the sensation of flight into its theme; Ice Breaker uses reverse launches; and Pipeline, the Surf Coaster, places riders in dynamic seats designed to evoke a surfboard. Penguin Trek offers a family coaster beside a penguin habitat, while Journey to Atlantis combines coaster and water-ride elements. Ride availability, height rules and maintenance closures vary, so check the official app and posted schedule rather than planning around an old list.

Animals remain a central part of the park’s identity. Visitors can encounter marine habitats and scheduled presentations, while SeaWorld describes a rescue and rehabilitation program operating across its parks. The company reported that its organization had passed 43,000 animal rescues by May 2026; that figure is the operator’s own cumulative claim and covers the wider organization, not just the Orlando site. It is useful context for understanding how the park presents its conservation work, but it should not be mistaken for a count of animals on display or a promise that a particular rescue facility is open to visitors.

Tickets, opening times and seasonal events

Prices depend on date and offer. When checked for this guide, SeaWorld’s official ticket page advertised single-day admission starting at US$59.99, with taxes, parking and service charges additional and other terms applying. Tickets are generally date-specific, and children aged three and older require admission; children two and younger are admitted free according to the park FAQ. The page also lists multi-visit products and promotions, some restricted by eligibility or blockout dates. Compare the terms carefully, especially if combining a park day with Aquatica or a separately ticketed nighttime event.

Opening hours are not fixed year-round. The park calendar checked on October 5, 2026 listed hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for that date, but another day may differ, and showtimes are published separately. Howl-O-Scream was scheduled on selected nights from September 11 through October 31, 2026; the event requires its own ticket and does not include daytime park admission. Seasonal schedules, weather and maintenance can affect operations, so confirm the calendar on the morning of a visit and use the app for wait times, presentation times and temporary closures.

Getting there and making the visit work

The official address is 7007 SeaWorld Drive, Orlando, Florida 32821, near Interstate 4 and Florida’s Beachline Expressway (State Road 528). The park says it is about ten minutes south of downtown Orlando and around fifteen minutes from Orlando International Airport, though traffic can change those estimates. Check parking prices and transport options before leaving; a ticket by itself does not include parking. Guest Services near the entrance handles ticket questions, upgrades, attraction information and accessibility assistance. Strollers, wheelchairs and electric convenience vehicles are available to rent, subject to availability.

Families should note that children 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult under the park’s general rule, and ride height requirements apply. Outside food and beverages are restricted, with exceptions stated in the accessibility guide for bottled water or refillable bottles. Service animals are permitted under park policy, while pets use the kennel outside the entrance. These rules can change, so check the current FAQ and accessibility information before arrival. A well-paced day starts with the calendar, not the parking lot: choose a few priority rides or presentations, leave time for meals and breaks, and verify every separately ticketed add-on before purchase.
