Los Angeles Stadium

(SoFi Stadium)

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Greater Los Angeles, is the most expensive stadium ever built and will host eight matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including a quarterfinal on 10 July. During the tournament it is called Los Angeles Stadium.

The stadium in brief

Opened in 2020 at a cost of around US$5 billion, SoFi is the shared home of the NFL's Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. Its translucent, fixed canopy roof and the vast 'Infinity Screen' double-sided video board make it a global architectural landmark. World Cup capacity is about 70,000, expandable beyond 100,000.

History

The centrepiece of the 298-acre Hollywood Park development, SoFi hosted Super Bowl LVI and will be a hub of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, reflecting its status as one of the world's premier event venues.
