BC Place Vancouver

(BC Place)

BC Place, ringed by the skyscrapers of downtown Vancouver, will host seven matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, more than any other Canadian venue, including a Round of 16 tie. During the tournament it is known as BC Place Vancouver.

The stadium in brief

Opened in 1983 and transformed by a major 2011 renovation that added the world's largest cable-supported retractable roof at the time, BC Place is the home of MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps and the CFL's BC Lions. Its World Cup capacity is around 54,500, and the retractable roof protects fans from Pacific Northwest rain.

History

BC Place hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Olympics and the final of the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, giving it world-class big-match experience ahead of 2026.
